Each piece of Orion's Belt Jewellery is handmade in our studio on Noongar Boodjar land in Margaret River, Australia and as such any subtle variances are part of the inherent beauty of a hand crafted piece. With some simple, basic care, you can help preserve and protect your jewellery for years to come.
Gold and silver are soft metals and become worn with use. To remove tarnish, we recommend a non-abrasive polish. Gold has a tendency to scratch, so extra care should be taken when wearing and cleaning to maintain quality and appearance. Gold and silver pieces can easily be cleaned using warm water and a soft, gentle cloth.
Avoid direct contact with water and chemical products such as soap, perfume, abrasive products, rubber, chlorine, detergents, oils, makeup, hairspray, etc. Do not wear jewellery when swimming or while bathing or showering. Gently wipe jewellery clean with a soft cloth after each wear. Keep your jewellery dry and stored in its protective box when not being worn.
Although plated metals are more susceptible to chipping and colour fade, taking special care during wear and cleaning can dramatically extend the period between re-plating. Take care to protect your plated jewellery from impact against hard or abrasive surfaces. Avoid stacking rings and/or bracelets that may be vulnerable to abrasion. Plated jewellery is the best cleaned with warm water and a very soft brush. For plated jewellery please note that due to the delicate nature of gold plating, and the frequency of wear, pieces will need re-plating every so often to maintain their original appearance. Plating rubbing off or tarnishing is a natural part of wear and tear, and is not considered a manufacturing fault.
